The skeletal remains of a body have been found in West Kerry.

The skeletal remains of a body have been found in West Kerry.

The discovery was made at around 1.30pm today by a local farmer.

Gardaí say at this stage it's not possible to establish the sex of the body or whether it's that of an adult or child.

They also say it's impossible to say how long the person has been dead until forensic and pathology examinations are carried out.

Superintendent Pat Sullivan is on his way to the scene which has been preserved pending the arrival of Garda Forensics and the State Pathologist.
