Ballincollig Winter Music Festival was in full swing over the weekend with headline acts such as Cathy Davey to the infamous Hothouse Flowers, but no-one expected this performance from local legend Pat Doherty - who plays the bones.

Yes, the bones.

Renowned musician and Hothouse Flowers member, Liam Ó Maonlaí took the time out after their gig on Sunday night to take part in MIC’s (Music In Common, Inc.) Music in the Community project, in aid of the Headway Group - an organisation for people with Acquired Brain Injury.

Though it was only after the gig drew to a close the real session happened.

Just as Liam was leaving The White Horse, Ballincollig in true Irishness someone shouts “Pat for a tune”.

Pat Doherty from Bishopstown - who only has the use of one hand - is locally famous for his spoon playing talents.

He unfortunately informed the crowd he forgot his spoons but has his bones in his pocket instead.

Cow bones to be exact.
