200 lay-offs feared at Intel plant

There is growing speculation this evening that electronics giant Intel will announce significant job losses at its plant in Leixlip in Co Kildare later tonight.

There is growing speculation this evening that electronics giant Intel will announce significant job losses at its plant in Leixlip in Co Kildare later tonight.

It is understood that up to 200 voluntary redundancies will be sought by the company.

Earlier this week, Intel announced that its second quarter earnings fell by 76% to $196m.

A major announcement is expected to be made at 8pm.
