Harlequins coach Brian McDermott will leave the London club at the end of the season to rejoin Leeds as assistant to Brian McClennan.

The former Bradford and Great Britain forward, who was number two to McClennan’s predecessor Tony Smith at Headingley, is returning north after spending four years in charge of Harlequins.

“I have really enjoyed my four years at Harlequins RL but now feel the time is right time hand over the reins,” he said.

“I want to spend more time with my family, who are based in Yorkshire, and this opportunity is very exciting.”
