Dundalk man remanded on firearm sentence

A Dundalk man who has admitted the unlawful possession of firearms was remanded on continuing bail for sentencing next October at the Special Criminal Court today.

A Dundalk man who has admitted the unlawful possession of firearms was remanded on continuing bail for sentencing next October at the Special Criminal Court today.

Vincent McKevitt, aged 44, a father of four, of Mountain Court, Point Road, Dundalk pleaded guilty in February to the unlawful possession of a sawn off shotgun and a 9mm semi automatic pistol at Nicholas St, Dundalk on January 5, 2002.

A previous court hearing was told that McKevitt was one of six men arrested at a house in Nicholas St by gardaí investigating the activities of dissident republicans.

Today Ms Isobel Kennedy SC, for the State, applied for McKevitt to be remanded until October for sentencing and the court remanded him on continuing bail for sentence on October 7.
