University student found safe in Dublin
Missing university student Victoria Stephenson has been found safe and well in Dublin.
Vicky, a first-year student at Manchester Metropolitan University, went missing on Tuesday after going to interview homeless people for her degree course.
It is believed she presented herself to a garda station in Dublin.
Detective Superintendent Peter Minshall, of Greater Manchester Police, said Vicky had walked into a garda station in Dublin.
Speaking outside Longsight Police Station in Manchester, he said: “I’m very pleased to announce that a short time ago, Victoria Stephenson walked into a police station in Dublin.
“The police in Dublin made contact with us and we in turn arranged for Vicky’s friends and family to talk to her on the telephone.
“They are obviously over the moon, as are all the officers on the investigation team.
“We don’t yet know any of the full circumstances as to why Vicky is in Dublin and we are currently making arrangements for our officers to go to Dublin to find out the reason why she was there.
“We are obviously going over there to see if there are issues for the police, and her family will be going as well.”
It is believed Vicky reported to the police station at about 10am.
