A Limerick man and a Dubliner are set to embark on an ambitious quest to become the first Irishmen to fly around the world in a light aircraft.
Paul Ryan and Alan McMahon have organised the 25,000-mile journey to raise money for the Marie Keating Cancer Foundation. The pair are due to leave Shannon Airport on May 1.
"It’s going to take 80 days, flying six or eight hours-a-day," Mr McMahon said.
"The longest leg will be over the Pacific, where there’s 1,300 miles of water to cross. It is going to be quite strenuous, it’s going to be quite stressful in places, dealing with different countries and immigration and customs when we land at the different airports."
