There are rising hopes of a breakthrough in the nursing dispute, with talks due to resume at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow morning.

Health Minister Micheal Martin is hopeful that the continuing dialogue will bring about an end to the work-to-rule instigated by nurses in accident and emergency units throughout Ireland last week.

However, the nurses will not make any decision on the action until Thursday as they are anxious to see what happens at a forum convened by Mr Martin to discuss overcrowding and working conditions in A&E departments.
