The Central Bank has considered the Ludwig report into the trading losses incurred in the AIB subsidiary, and discussed its findings with AIB.

The Central Bank is also working closely with US Federal Reserve to finalise the investigation of the events at Allfirst.

The Central Bank says it is seriously concerned by what has emerged, and is requesting from AIB that all issues identified in the report are fully addressed and carried out as a matter of urgency.

The Bank is writing this week to the chairpersons of all credit institutions under its supervisory control to emphasise the need to ensure controls of international standard are in place.
