'Glee' star's Monteith's father not invited to wake

Cory Monteith's body was cremated on Tuesday.

The 'Glee' star's funeral took place in Vancouver, Canada, following a private wake that was attended by his heartbroken girlfriend Lea Michele, 26, and his family, including his older brother Shaun, but his father Joe Monteith is devastated that he was not invited.

Joe told gossip website TMZ.com that he was only informed about his son's cremation after it took place and is "totally devastated" that he wasn't invited to view Cory's body for the last time.

He added: "I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."

Sources said that Cory's mother, Ann, decided to hold a wake for the 31-year-old actor, who was found dead in his hotel room in the city on Saturday after he accidentally overdosed from heroin and alcohol, in the hospital after his body was released following an autopsy on Tuesday.

She then immediately decided to have her son cremated.

Her ex-husband Joe said he is "shocked" that Cory was taking heroin, despite the late actor previously admitting he had struggled with addiction since he was a teenager and he would take "anything and everything, as much as possible."
