Christmas spending up on last year
Spending in the run-up to the Christmas holidays was up on last year’s figure.
Shoppers have increased spending by 12% compared with last year.
Reports claim Irish shoppers did not over-indulge in credit card spending throughout December, so retailers are expecting the spending to continue as people look for bargains when the post-Christmas Day sales begin.
Some shops will be opening the tills today for the keenest of shoppers, with all retailers gearing up for sale shopping frenzy tomorrow.
