David Blaine had a long-awaited rematch with Eamonn Holmes today, two years after their excruciating first interview.
In that infamous encounter on GMTV, Holmes squirmed as the magician barely said a word, stared him out and flashed an eye drawn on the palm of his hand.
This time Holmes donned a pair of boxing gloves in readiness for the rematch.
But Blaine proved more talkative and said of the first interview: “I was just having fun.”
Holmes told him: “I’m glad one of us was.”
The illusionist put his weird performance down to tiredness because of the early morning start.
“It was 6am, 7am, and I’m usually tired at that time,” he said. “I was kind of groggy and a little slow.”
Holmes quipped: “Me too, mate. I’ve got news for you. Those few minutes seemed like 44 days to me.”
Blaine was giving his first British interview since spending 44 days in a box suspended near Tower Bridge.
