Jennie did better than expected

Jennie Bond is one of the more unlikely finalists on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Few had expected the former BBC royal correspondent to make it this far.

But viewers have warmed to the plummy-voiced 53-year-old because of her willingness to get stuck in to the challenges.

She endured being buried alive with a coffin-full of rats and her first concern when she emerged was: “Is my mascara still on?”

Reluctant to go bare-faced in front of the cameras, Jennie was caught smuggling make-up into the camp hidden in her knickers.

It is not the first time her knickers have made the news – she once confessed to going without them on a work assignment.

While most of the celebrities got on with Jennie, she made an instant enemy in Lord Brocket.

The aristocrat branded her a “stupid old slapper” and said she deserved to be strangled.

“She’s a prat – false, patronising, arrogant and dogmatic. If that old slag doesn’t go soon, she’ll get recycled into something useful,” he said.

Jennie spent 14 years reporting on the royals and will be delighted with the news that the Queen has been tuning in to the reality show.

She quit her BBC job last year and admitted she did not actually like the Royal Family.
