Man stabbed in neck during road rage attack

A man was seriously injured today after being stabbed in the neck with a bottle in an apparent road rage attack, police said.

A man was seriously injured today after being stabbed in the neck with a bottle in an apparent road rage attack, police said.

The incident happened on Victoria Road, Derry, near the Craigavon Bridge at 11.45am.

One man was arrested.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: ‘‘Two men, one driving a black Citroen Xantia, the other a long supermarket lorry, became involved in a dispute over the manner of each other’s driving.

‘‘A fight ensued during which one man was stabbed in the neck with a bottle.’’

He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in the city for treatment where a hospital spokeswoman said the victim was ‘‘ill but stable’’.
