Stilian Petrov’s agent has hinted that the Bulgarian could move on at the end of the season.
The midfielder is one of the lynchpins of Martin O’Neill’s Hoops side, which is on course for another joust at the Champions League next season.
Everton had been strongly rumoured to be interested in making a bid this month, with manager Davie Moyes having taken in Celtic’s 2-1 Tennent’s Scottish Cup victory over Rangers on Sunday.
Petrov’s agent Latchezar Tanev made it clear that no move to Merseyside was imminent and that 25-year-old was happy at Parkhead.
But he tantalisingly predicted that those circumstances could change in a few months’ time.
He told Everton’s official webside, evertonfc.com: “I have no information from Celtic or any contact from Everton regarding Stilian.
“He is happy at Celtic and he is playing at a high level. I don’t think there is anything at the moment, but that could change in the summer.
“If he was to change club it would take a good offer as he has a good contract until June 2007.
“There has always been interest in Stilian as he is playing well for Celtic and Bulgaria.”
The midfielder is the captain of his national side and so famous a figure back home that his wedding was broadcast on television.
