TV station Setanta Sports is to make a bid for the rights to broadcast GAA matches.

Croke Park bosses are to meet soon to discuss TV rights for the next three years and Setanta will enter the fray, along with RTÉ and TG4.

The All-Ireland hurling and football leagues and championships, along with club and U21 championships, are up for grabs.

Setanta boss Niall Cogley said: "It is in everyone's interest for Gaelic games to have more than one outlet — and as a result we have made a proposal to Croke Park. We are hopeful the GAA would look at it in the long term and not the short term."
