Victorious Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said tonight he would try to establish a broad-based coalition that would include the defeated Labour party.

However, Sharon did not mention Labour by name and did not offer any policy incentives that might persuade Labour to renege on its campaign promise not join a Sharon-led government.

Sharon said he would “turn to all the Zionist parties to join a broad national unity government” that would have the same guidelines as his previous coalition.

“The plan can bring Israel victory over terrorism and open a real path to peace,” Sharon said.
