Aid agencies are warning of a humanitarian disaster in the Democratic Republic of Congo after an erupting volcano forced thousands of people to flee their homes.
Thousands of people are fleeing across the border after Mount Nyiragongo began spewing rock and molten lava on Thursday. Many people have been buried alive. The city of Goma has been destroyed.
The eruption has sparked a humanitarian crisis as refugees flood into the town of Gisenyi, where they have no food or shelter.
Oxfam is sending out aid worth £150,000, consisting mostly of equipment to provide clean water for drinking and sanitation.
The Catholic Aid Agency CAFOD has also released £50,000 to provide the refugees with blankets, tents, food and cooking utensils.
A spokesperson for CAFOD said the refugees had not eaten for two days.
At least 14 villages are said to have been destroyed as three rivers of lava swept down the mountainside.
