A rally in support of retaining services at Roscommon County Hospital is getting underway around now in the town.

The protest comes over mounting concerns about its downgrading and possible closure in response to a massive budget shortfall.

The HSE has denied any plans to close the facility, which operates on a 24/7 basis.

Cllr Luke "Ming" Flanagan - Mayor of Roscommon County Council - is appealing for people to join the rally.
