Georgia have lost inspirational skipper Ilia Zedginidze for the remainder of the World Cup.

Georgia have lost inspirational skipper Ilia Zedginidze for the remainder of the World Cup.

Zedginidze sustained a knee injury in Saturday’s heroic 14-10 defeat by Ireland and will play no further part in the tournament.

It is a major blow to Georgia, who face fellow Pool D minnows Namibia in just over a week.

Neither Georgia nor Namibia have won a World Cup match and the Lelos had targeted the encounter to register their first victory in the tournament.
