Residential property prices jumped nationwide by 0.8% in April, the first increase of the year so far, according to the Central Statistics Office.

Last year, prices fell by 1.1% in the same month.

The latest figures from the CSO show the annual rate of decline in residential property prices was 1.2% nationwide to the end of April this year, compared to 16.4% in 2012.

Prices grew by 0.2% in Dublin in April, and were a full 1% higher than the previous year.

House prices in the capital remained stable in April when compared to February, but were 1.3% higher than in 2012.

Apartment prices continue to fall in Dublin however, with the average price down 2.9% on the previous April.
