Gardaí have arrested a teenager after an An Post van was stolen in Dublin this morning.

Gardaí have arrested a teenager after an An Post van was stolen in Dublin this morning.

The unoccupied An Post delivery van was stolen by a man in the Rosscourt area of Lucan in County Dublin.

A 17-year-old teenage boy is being held at Lucan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

An employee of An Post, who was injured dwhile attempting to retrieve the van, was taken to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Gardaí recovered the van in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, a short time later.

Gardaí at Lucan are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Rosscourt Grove, Lucan, Dublin, between 9am and 9.30am and Dunshaughlin Village, County Meath, between 10am and 11am, to contact them at Lucan Garda Station on 01-6667300, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666111 or any Garda Station.
