Detainees flee Australian immigration centre

A police investigation is underway in Australia following the abscondment of over 30 illegal immigrants from a refugee detention centre.

A police investigation is underway in Australia following the abscondment of over 30 illegal immigrants from a refugee detention centre.

It is thought that people on the outside of the camp, in Woomera, helped the detainees escape by tearing down a perimeter fence.

Police have captured at least five of the detainees but the rest remain unaccounted for.
