Officials at Taunton have called a 10.30am inspection for Tuesday ahead of their afternoon meeting.

Clerk of the course Michael Trickey had initially planned to check conditions at 11am on Monday but he has delayed that look until raceday after an improvement in conditions.

He said: “Temperatures didn’t drop as low as forecast overnight and we are forecast minus one tonight so there is hope.

“The overnight temperatures as not as much of a problem as the daytime – we are only forecast to

go up to plus three both today and tomorrow.

“It has improved though and we have to give it a chance.”
