Holiday sales are such bullshit, right?

30,000 Americans literally bought poo on Black Friday for $6

30,000 little packages of poop are making their way through American post to happy customers.

On Black Friday, the biggest retail day in America, one brand decided it had had enough of commercial madness. They took down all their usual products from sale, and offered one thing only: bullshit. Literally.

30,000 people bought boxes of 'bullshit' from the Cards Against Humanity company, despite repeated warnings, disclaimers, and clear labelling that there was nothing being sold except bovine excrement. No joke, no hidden prizes, just poo, they promised.

The boxes have started to arrive – and guess what? They're full of shit.

Warning: This is exactly what it says on the tin. It is not appetising.

In an unsurprising turn of events, anyone who called bullshit received, as promised, exactly that. And they're uploading unboxing videos as if they've just received the latest smartphone.

The stunt was, as Cards Against Humanity puts it, part of their "holiday bullshit" campaign.

That makes sense in the context of the company's wider strategy. They manufacture a card game they describe themselves as "a party game for horrible people."

The game mechanics are simple: one player reads out a black card containing a sentence with blanks - and other players respond with their funniest, worst, or most offensive response card.

For a company which is famous for its hilariously rude customer service, it should not be surprising that they did, in fact, charge people $6 for poo. And sold out all 30,000 units.

That's $180,000 in 30 minutes of sales for a PR stunt. Which probably didn't cover the cost of setting up a factory to package literal bull shit.

If this has piqued your interest, Cards Against Humanity actually give away their entire game for free as a downloadable, printable PDF. You can find it right here.
