Economist and journalist Paul Tansey dies aged 59

The well-known economist and journalist Paul Tansey has died suddenly at the age of 59.

The well-known economist and journalist Paul Tansey has died suddenly at the age of 59.

Mr Tansey, who was economics editor at the Irish Times, died yesterday while playing tennis in Co Wicklow.

He is survived by his wife - broadcaster and writer Olivia O'Leary - and their daughter Emily.

Mr Tansey previously ran his own financial consultancy firm and also worked as deputy editor of the Sunday Tribune.
