'Viable device' found in Longford

The Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable device in Longford last night.

Gardaí discovered the suspect device during a search of a vehicle on a rural road 4kms outside Ballymahon.

The bomb squad were deployed to the scene at around 9pm.

The area was sealed off and the device was made safe by around 10.30pm without the need for a controlled explosion.
