“He ran very well and was maybe a little bit unlucky not to be placed,” said Nolan.

“In hindsight with the ground the way it was, maybe we would have been better running in the Coral Cup, but it’s easy to be wise after the event.

“Maybe if there was a bit more pace in the race that would have helped as well, but he still ran a good race and we’ll have to see what happens next.

“Hopefully he’ll go again somewhere but the ground is getting very testing again in Ireland at the moment and the forecast is bad.

“Whether it dries up again for the Punchestown Festival, we’ll just have to see.”

Nolan’s See U Bob could be crossing the water for the Grand National meeting at Aintree next week.

The seven-year-old beat the smart Kempes on his chasing debut before chasing home the ill-fated Citizen Vic at Leopardstown in February.

“We’re considering Aintree for See U Bob as we’re adamant he’s going to be a better horse on better ground,” the trainer added.

“We had him in the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Sunday but he’s unlikely to go there because of the testing ground.

“We’ll have a look at the two-mile novice chase (Maghull Novices’ Chase) and the two-and-a-half-mile race (Manifesto Novices’ Chase) and just weigh up the entries nearer the time.”
