Derby manager Paul Jewell has revealed Lee Carsley is the type of player he would like in his squad for next season.
Carsley has been strongly linked with a return to the Rams at the end of the current campaign when he is out of contract at Everton.
Jewell rightly refuses to reveal whether he is interested in the 34-year-old international, who spent the first seven years of his career with Derby.
However, he is on the lookout for a player of Carsley’s character as he plans an immediate return to the Premier League in the wake of this season’s relegation.
“Lee has been one of Everton’s best players this season,” said Jewell in the 'Derby Evening Telegraph'.
“I wouldn’t be so silly as to comment on players who are in other manager’s teams at the moment. That would be unfair and unwise.
“I don’t think it’s right for me to say I’m signing Lee Carsley, but certainly that type of player is what we’re looking for, as well as some youth.”
