A British man married a girl who he lives 5,000 miles away from after meeting her on Facebook.

Gavin Jenkins met Brazilian Gisele Cunha after the couple uploaded their pictures to the social networking site's 'Hot or Not' application in January 2008.

The 31-year-old air hostess - who was voted 'hot' by Gavin - said: “If someone had told me a few years ago I would meet my future husband on Facebook – someone who lived thousands of miles away – I would have called them crazy.

“But I truly believe it was fate that brought us together.”

The couple emailed each other and spoke via Skype for five months before Gisele found work in England in April 2008.

She moved to Britain and the couple met for the first time and fell in love, before the 30-year-old sales executive asked Gisele to marry him in October 2009.
