The body of a Channel 4 News reporter Gaby Rado, who fell to his death from a hotel roof in northern Iraq, is to be taken to Tehran, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported tonight.

The International Red Cross will take the body to Iran’s Parviz Khan border crossing with northern Iraq and deliver it to British embassy officials.

Rado, 48, who was of Hungarian origin, fell from the roof of his hotel in Suleimanyah into the car park.

There were rumours that he had been killed by Kurdish Islamists, but ITN said his death did not appear to be related to military actions
