Cork residents stop Irish Water work

Residents of a Cork housing estate are in a stand-off with Irish Water workers.

Gardaí were at the scene this afternoon at the Ashbrook Estate in Togher as angry residents, including members of the Campaign Against Home and and Water Taxes, mounted a demonstration after the workers tried to install water meters there.

It is understood that all work has ceased at the site as Gardaí deal with the situation.
