Second Division Tranmere Rovers have appointed former striker David Kelly as their new assistant manager.
The 36-year-old former Republic of Ireland international signed for Rovers in 1997 and made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals before joining Sheffield United.
Tranmere manager Ray Mathias said: “It’s great to see David return, he is a great character and will be a huge asset to the club.”
Kelly, who played with 10 members of the squad during his previous spell at the club, was also thrilled to get his first coaching role at Tranmere.
“It’s always been an ambition of mine to go into coaching and it’s great to get the chance at Prenton Park,” he added.
“I’ve kept in touch with a lot of people at Tranmere and I can’t wait to work with Ray and the players to help get the club back where we belong.”
