Mr Jack Ass sues US show

An American man who changed his name to Jack Ass is suing the makers of US stunt show Jackass - for giving him a bad name.

An American man who changed his name to Jack Ass is suing the makers of US stunt show Jackass - for giving him a bad name.

Bob Craft changed his name to Jack Ass in 1997 to raise awareness about the dangers of drink-driving.

But following the success of the MTV show of the same name, he is claiming defamation of character.

The Montana man plans to represent himself in the lawsuit, seeking damages of €10m or more.

He claims media giant Viacom is "liable for injury to my reputation that I have built and defamation of my character which I have worked so hard to create."

Mr Ass says he changed his name as part of a personal crusade against drink-driving after his brother and a friend were killed in a car crash.

A spokeswoman for MTV Networks says its policy is not to comment on pending litigation.

Jackass - the show and movie, which starred Johnny Knoxville - featured outrageous stunts and practical jokes.

The show ran in 2000 and 2001 before it was cancelled.

The movie, which came out earlier this year, made more than $60m (€52m) at the US box office, reports Sky News.
