A suicide car bomber struck police gathering for roll call in a town near Tikrit, killing at least 14 people and wounding 40.
The explosion occurred as police were lining up at the gate of the Dawr police station, about 12 miles south-east of Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit, Capt. Abdel-Samad Mohammed said.
Mohammed said all the victims were members of the police force.
