A full-scale search got underway at first light this morning for four people missing after their aircraft disappeared yesterday over Co Wicklow.

The pilot and three passengers were aboard the PA 28 light aircraft which was on route from Gloucester in the UK to Kilrush in Co Kildare.

The alarm was raised yesterday evening when a relative of one of those on board alerted the authorities that the plane failed to arrive.

A subsequent look back at radar records showed it disappeared while flying above the Poulaphouca reservoir at around lunchtime.
