At least 47 people have been killed in a stampede at a football match in South Africa, according to reports.
The victims are thought to have been trampled to death when a crowd surged to try and get into the Ellis Park stadium, Johannesburg.
Fans were there to watch two of the country's top football teams, the Kaizer Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates.
Among those killed are women and children.
Live television broadcasts from the stadium showed bodies strewn on the field, covered in blankets.
Officials said more fatalities were expected once the body count had been finalised.
South African TV broadcaster SABC said too many tickets had been sold for the game.
People outside had tried to push into the stadium and were trapped against barbed wire.
Earlier police released teargas on people stampeding outside the stadium, but problems arose again and led to the deaths.
Scores have been injured and are being carried on stretchers to medical helicopters.
Emergency vehicles can not move outside the stadium as cars were gridlocked.
The fans, who earlier had been singing and dancing, were silent as they watched the chaos on the field unfold, reports South African News Agency, SAPA.
