Fears Robbie fans may miss out again

Robbie Williams fans in the UK may miss out on their idol’s concert for a second night running, with thousands already battling mounting traffic around the stately home venue of Knebworth, the AA warned today.

Robbie Williams fans in the UK may miss out on their idol’s concert for a second night running, with thousands already battling mounting traffic around the stately home venue of Knebworth, the AA warned today.

Up to 125,000 fans were heading for Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire to watch Robbie’s sell-out gig.

Although the former Take That star is not due on stage until 8.30pm, traffic in some areas around the concert is already said to be at a standstill.

“We have quite a few delays, traffic has really built up quite substantially,” an AA Roadwatch spokesman said.

“The concert starts at 3pm and most people are heading for that area - everyone is using the A1(M).

“I think we are going to (see traffic) continue to cause a problem as people descend upon the area.”

Thousands of frustrated fans missed last night’s the gig as tailbacks stretched for 10 miles along the A1 from Baldock to Stevenage.

Some were forced to content themselves with listening to muffled music from the hard shoulder, while others at the show spent more than five hours trying to get out of the car park.

When asked if the situation would deteriorate in the same way as last night, the Roadwatch spokesman replied: “I think it will be much the same, there are just so many people.”
