Teachers told to keep schools open during ferries protest

Teachers have been urged to ensure that all schools have enough staff to remain open during this Friday's planned protests in support of Irish Ferries workers.

Teachers have been urged to ensure that all schools have enough staff to remain open during this Friday's planned protests in support of Irish Ferries workers.

All the main teaching unions are sending representatives to the rally, but are urging members to ensure enough staff stay behind to allow schools to remain open.

Parents groups had expressed concern that schools would be forced to close if teachers attended the rally.
