Manchester United have completed the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Ricardo Lopez from Real Valladolid for £1.5m (€2.4m).
The 30-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Old Trafford outfit and his registration was pushed through in time to make him eligible for tomorrow’s Barclaycard Premiership trip to Sunderland.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been pursuing an extra goalkeeping option for some time and is delighted to have landed his man, just one day before the transfer deadline.
“He is second choice in the Spanish national squad and a lot of people believe if he was with a bigger team he would be in the side,” said the Scot.
“With that level of ability he was an easy choice.”
