Gardaí are investigating an attack on Dublin's O'Connell Street.

Officers say a 24-year-old woman was injured in a vicious assault at around 8pm last night near Clerys department store.

It is reported she was singled out by a group of about five people, and her face was slashed.

She was taken to the Mater Hospital but has since been discharged.

The scene remains sealed off this morning, and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with them at Store Street Garda Station.
