Garda first thought body in Phoenix Park was a mannequin

A garda who found the burning body of homeless man Gerard Donnelly in the Phoenix Park in Dublin has told the Central Criminal Court he initially thought it was a mannequin.

The 36-year-old was allegedly beaten to death by another homeless man, 29-year-old Ciaran Moran, and set alight on November 28 or 29, 2013.

The jury has heard that Gerard Donnelly had more than €8,000 in cash and €140,000 in an EBS account, weeks before his death.

Ciaran Moran, with a former address at Camden Street in Dublin, denies the murder charge.
