MEPS to quiz Prodi on accounting fraud

Romano Prodi, president of the European Commission will be questioned today by MEPs regarding allegations of fraud in the EU statistics office Eurostat.

Romano Prodi, president of the European Commission will be questioned today by MEPs regarding allegations of fraud in the EU statistics office Eurostat.

He faces the European Parliament's budgetary committee in what will be a closed session in Strasbourg.

Although reports suggest millions of euro went missing through false accounting at the statistics office, there is a belief that much of the wrongdoing happened prior to the current Commission taking office.
