Post mortem results are expected later this morning on the body of a woman who was found dead in Cork yesterday.

Post mortem results are expected later this morning on the body of a woman who was found dead in Cork yesterday.

The 33-year old woman, originally from Dublin, was found dead at the bottom of a flight of stairs, in a house at Roches Buildings, off Patrick's Hill in the city.

It is believed she suffered head and neck injuries following a suspected fall.

A technical examination of the scene has been carried out and gardai are treating the death as suspicious.

The woman had been living in the house since November, she has been named locally as Jean Scanlon.
