Artisan food store owner catches men on CCTV dumping rubbish in his recycling bins

Artisan food store owner, Gabriel Matei, has expressed his concern regarding the dumping of rubbish in his bins on RTÉ’s Liveline.

The food store called ‘Baked’ which is based in Dundrum has a contract with waste management providers Keywaste, who collect their industrial sized recycling bins each week.

Mr Matei noticed that he was being charged extra by the company for disposing of general waste although both bins were used by the store owner for recycling purposes only.

He said that he spoke to the company about four weeks when he realised he was being charged more than he expected. He said the company explained the charge by saying there was general waste in the recylicg bins which they had to put in a different truck.

A camera installed by Mr Matei picked up three men arriving in a van with a visible registation number.

One of the people caught on the CCTV footage opened the lid of one of the bins and started “dancing” to flatten the rubbish already inside the bin order to fit more in.

Mr Matei is yet to give details to the Gardaí.

“I was talking to one of the managers of this waste management company and we’ll decide what to do next,” he said.
