Tests for foot-and-mouth disease in two sheep in the UK have proved negative, confirming preliminary results released during the week.
Agriculture officials have confirmed that tests for the disease have revealed that the scare at Hawnby in North Yorkshire was a false alarm.
The farm is close to a holding on which diseased animals were found during last year’s outbreak.
The all-clear was given by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs this afternoon.
No trace of the disease has been found in Britain since last September.
