Former prime minister's face adorns women's knickers

Panties have gone on sale in Canada emblazoned with the face of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.

Panties have gone on sale in Canada emblazoned with the face of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.

Victoria underwear designer Trish Tacoma says they are proving popular.

She says a lot of women thought Canada's 15th prime minister was very sexy.

Ms Tacoma said she came up with the idea after completing a portrait of Trudeau.

Ms Tacoma said: "I had done a painting for my bedroom of Trudeau and then I took the artwork from that and turned it into a silk screen. We were just sort of fooling around with it and it ended up on a pair of panties one day."

She says the facial image of Trudeau on the panties is how she remembers the former prime minister, handsome and playful.

"The nice downcast eyes, a little smirk on his face. I think he looks really sweet there," she said.

"A lot of women thought he was sexy. He was quite intellectual. He was very playful. He had lots of charisma. Those are things women find sexy in a guy."

A spokesman for the Montreal-based Trudeau Foundation has refused to comment.
