Man found off Galway coast named

A post mortem examination is been carried out on the body that was recovered from the sea off Co Galway this afternoon.

A post mortem examination is been carried out on the body that was recovered from the sea off Co Galway this afternoon.

Staff at University Hospital Galway are carrying out the examination on the body of 80-year-old, Jerry Cullen from Ballisadare in Co Sligo.

Mr Cullen was found in his car after it was taken from the sea by coast guard and Garda units around noon today at Ross A Mhil, he had been missing from his home since yesterday morning.

Elsewhere, another post mortem will be carried out on the body of another man who was found in the water at the entrance to Baltimore Harbour in Co Cork today.

The Baltimore Lifeboat discovered the man, who is believed to be in his thirties, shortly after 1pm.
