Spot the difference? Cuala presented with the wrong cup after Leinster win

It may have been a carbon-copy end to the year, as Cuala won a second consecutive Leinster title, but there was something different, writes Stephen Barry.

The All-Ireland champions’ O’Moore Park return saw them retain their Leinster silverware, or so they thought.

However, it appears a trophy mix-up means Cuala were presented with a different trophy.

Spot the difference?

Des Cahill did.

“Ahem..!! Cough..!! Eh...This seems to be the WRONG trophy!!” wrote the eagle-eyed RTÉ presenter.

“But we don’t mind.. #Cuala are AGAIN the @AIB_GAA Leinster Club Champions!! Respect to @KK_GAA but what a great performance from our boys! #MaybeTheCupIsForUnder21InterCountyFootball #TheToughest”.

The Cuala clubman noticed the county names, Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Laois, engraved in the base of the trophy, and figured out it was the Leinster U21 football trophy, the Flood Cup.

Dublin are the four-in-a-row champions so perhaps the two were mixed up somewhere in Dalkey?

Not that Cuala will mind too much, although, it does beg the question: where is the Leinster Club Hurling cup?
