The public's input is being sought on proposed new legislation making it illegal for hospitals to retain the organs of still-born children without parental consent.

The public's input is being sought on proposed new legislation making it illegal for hospitals to retain the organs of still-born children without parental consent.

The law is being drafted following the recommendations of the Madden Report, which found that nearly 14,000 pituitary glands from children and adults were supplied to drug companies to make products.

A number of ads have been published in today's newspapers inviting submissions on the proposed law.

The Parents for Justice campaign group says it hopes the legislation will mean that the events revealed in the Madden Report never happen again.
